I’ve been playing with this program and it’s very good.
It also has very impressive demo-modules which prove that this
is probably the best musiceditor now available, NO HYPE !
I found it on a BBS, it’s a bit big to upload to Aminet by E-mail,
I hope it will be uploaded by someone with better internet access.
(Maybe I’ll find someone in Holland to put it up, it’s copyrighted
though) I’ve added an older archive with more examples, the total size
is 1.4meg LHA’d.
I have an A1200/020/2 and I found no bugs.

.———-ART OF NOISE TRACKER———-.
: Preview of the final Version! :
: Stunning NEW tracker, NO PT Clone! :
: 8 channels,fm-synthesis,drumsequencer, :
: wavetable synthesis and MUCH more! :
`—MAYBE THE NEW STANDART IN THE SZENE?-’

———————————————————————-

Welcome to final-sales preview of ** ART OF NOISE **.
What the heck is AON ? I bet you already might have noticed,
that this program is a kind of music tracker. But it is not
yet ANOTHER tracker (like the 1001 protracker clones out there)
but a real NEW tracker, of course completely new coded (no
protracker source used!!). I tried to improve the old protracker
format (which is surely antiquated already since ages..) and to
create a new tracker, which should be the DREAM TRACKER for all
amiga musicians.. (and all who want to become one ). I think
I should give you a short summary of the new possibilities that
AON offers you:

- OS2.0 look! no hardware hacking like in protracker
  – Reqtools filerequesters
  – CPU or copper viewmode split (for pattern-display)
(cpu needs more rasttime, but is more
    system-friendly)

- More instruments!! (up to 61!!) (1-9,a-z,A-Z)

- More patterns (up to 128) (if you demand more, just
   tell me!)

- More song-sequences (Song-Length now up to 256)
  – Restart-Position <>0 possible
  – nice sequence-list editor
  – new songlist-edit short cuts

- More player-commands !! (increased to max. 62, 46 are
   already in use!)
  – Arpeggio (up to 16) + Any other effect possible
each arpeggio can have up to 7 partnotes, arpeggio
    speed is of course changeable
  – wavetable-commands
  – syndrums-commands
  – new effects like vibrato&volume set/slide etc..
  – external program SYNCHRONISATION commands
(demos/games and other presentations (easy to use
for e.g. multimedia productions, which shall be
    timed with the soundtrack)
  – 8 channel control commands

- More notes !!! Highest note is now B-5 !!

- Maximal instrument play-length up to 256k, waveform size
   only limited to free memory!!

- Cool new sampler with lots of new effects (digital filter,
   flanger/phase distortion/multi-sampling+triggering etc..

- REAL 8 CHANNEL-MODE, *ALL* effects are usable on splitted
channels, that includes loops as well as FULL VOLUME&PITCH
   control !!!
  – mix-rate up to 64khz!!!

- Volume-Envelopes for SAMPLES(!!!) and
   WAVETABLE INSTRUMENTS(!)

- Wavetable-Instruments !! (‘synthetic’ mode)
  – SAVES really A LOT OF MEMORY
  – no disturbing white noise, just crystal clear sound

- Instrument&Waveform are seperated, so that e.g. 10
instruments can use the same waveform (very useful!)
  – saves memory
  – create new sound-fx by using different instruments
which still use the same waveform!!

- FM-Synthesizer
  – 2 operators to create cool filter-like sounds!

- drumsequencer
  – create your own drumlines with up to 16 tracks
    – mixed in 16bit for optimal quality !
  – selectable pitch & sequence-length

- Song-Remark can be detached to every song-module
  – up to 32k (even for small novels )

- Instrument names now up to 32 chars
  – easy instrument-selecting from the pull-down menu
(just click on the name !) or press amiga+(instr.nr)

- Disable not-needed-song-info saving (like remark/instrument
   names etc..
  – saves memory (about 3-36k)

- Protracker-(load format)-compatibility, all key-shortcuts
in AON are just the same as in protracker (+ ofcourse a lot
   of new shortcuts)

- module-crunch
  – powerpacker
  – STONECRACKER (the best (fastest+most efficient)
    cruncher around!)

- memory usage e.g. for patterns is the same as in protracker,
although there are many many new improvements !!

- many new pattern-edit commands !
  – exchange tracks/patterns
  – change volume
  – wildstar-replace (like in any texteditor!!!!)

- player is easy to include in own productions (saves
   player+mod files and executables )

- for the interested guys: The fileformat is MUCH better than
protracker (well, it wasn’t so hard to improve THAT format)
  – Chunk-format (like e.g. IFF)
  – easy to expand (future versions…)

There are is also a huge amount of more detail-improvemements, which
are nevertheless very useful when composing music. Just load the
preview and check it…

When is the full version going to be released ?!

Yes, the full version IS AVAILABLE NOW!!
Just contact me at the address in the info-screen (in AON) or at the
address following later in this text.
The original will cost 79DM. You will get a printed, 60 page manual
plus 4 Disks. At the moment, the manual is only available in GERMAN,
but we are working on an english version, so stay tuned, if you are a
non-german guy!

####- If you want to order your copy of AON, have any suggestions, how
to improve this program, or just any questions, don’t hesitate
      to contact me at once!!

Just write to..:
   Bastian Spiegel (‘TWICE/LEGO’)
    Trupermoorer Landstrasse 17a
    28865 Lilienthal
    Germany

As far as I can work out, Octamed can load any length sample, BUT can
only fully play samples that are 131072 bytes or shorter in length.
I found this by trial and error on version 4, and am still limited by
it in version 5. At the moment I am cutting some samples into 4, which
can lead to difficulty in looping. I read in a .doc for a module player
that Octamed is not limited in terms of sample length. Is this true or am
I missing something obvious ( is it a hardware limitation? ) ?

>I have chenged my A500 to A600HD
>and some programs do not work an it.
>for example noisetraker.
>please help me if can and tell me what to do.

1) Upgrade your software.
If I’m not too wrong, then you now have Kickstart 2.05, and you previously
had kick 1.2 or 1.3. Quite a lot of old sw just doesn’t work in kick 2+
Solution: Dig around for all the wonderful kick2+ sw that is on aminet/funet.
For example, try ProTracker 2.3, or 3.10/3.15 intead of the ancient
Noisetracker, or try Quadra Composer.

Welcome to the biggest upgrade between kickstarts, I guess you’ll find
that it IS worth it

- — -

> In a previous article, ai…@lvld.hp.com (Jim Aites) says:

> >The subject about says it all. I’ve seen some .XM mods floating around and
> >haven’t a clue about what player works with them. Is this information in
> >the FAQ?

> >Oh, I’m using an Amiga, but some of my users are IBM or MAC.

> >-Jim-
> > Truth is where you | Starship Artifact BBS | Thank you, Jim 8′s
> > find it, but it | | ai…@hpsmpa.lvld.hp.com
> > helps if you keep | (303) 663-5466 |
> > your eyes open | | Surface mount technology
> > while looking… | c/o Foxmore de’ Foghat | not just a nasty thought.

> Once again, there is No XM player for the Amiga right now….but it is being
> worked on by Jarno Paananen, he is to include it in his next release of
> PS3M (the last he mentioned). We’re still waiting, but for the most recent
> news would be on comp.sys.amiga.audio

Hmmmm…. Are they also working on an Amiga MTM-player?

BTW, for some strange reason, PS3M behaves wierd on my Amiga1200. I go to
play a mod or s3m and, when it starts playing it, I get a big black screen
with an out-of-synch display, and as soon as I click my left mouse button,
it quits playing as if I’d hit the stop-button on the PS3M control panel,
even if I move the mouse.

I watched PS3M working on a 3000 running a Picassa board, and there it
produced a window on the workbench which displayed the status of the song and
otherwise behaved normally. I’ve tried two different versions of PS3M and
they BOTH do this. I suspect something screwy is going on with my monitor
drivers… (I’m using the stock ones for the CBM 1960 monitor). Perhaps
something on my machine is "decoying" the monitor drivers into thinking that
some internal process of PS3M is a display or something, and trying to display
it. Grrrrrrr…!

At least I found a copy of HippoPlayer, which doesn’t have this problem.
Trouble is, it reduces the volume of the S3M when it plays it! I have to
crank up the volume to hear them!

Has anyone else had this problem? And can they suggest a fix?

> telnet to:

> shadowso.com (for connection to an Amiga BBS [CNET])

BTW, the 3000 was a 2.04 machine.
—
Nomad of Norad (David C. Hall) | "I am No-mad. I am per-fect.
tlvx!wopr!no…@sinkhole.unf.edu | >Click!< per-fect.
tlvx!no…@sinkhole.unf.edu | >Click!< per-fect."
