The new newsgroups have arrived! Yow!

Welcome to comp.sys.amiga.audio!

The new newsgroups have arrived! Use them in good health!

Please try to get your conversations sorted out into the new groups
as quickly as possible, by editing the Newsgroups: and Followups-To:
lines on everything you post for the next few weeks.  After that,
things should take care of themselves.

This group is for discussion of the Amiga and sound, including sampled
sound, MIDI interfaces, accessing the speech mechanism, including sound
in games, programming the sound interfaces, plug and play products, and
any other "noisy" discussions about the Amiga.

Sound digitizers

I will soon be in the market for an audio digitizer.  Can someone please
let me know what the best one for the Amiga is?  What are your experiences
with the various brands.

TIA

PERFECT SOUND UPGRADE

I have been a registered user of Perfect Sound for a couple of
years now when I bought it for the 1000.  I upgraded to a 2000 about a
year ago and couldn’t use the thing.  When I saw that Sunrise Industries
had released Perfect Sound V3 I thought I would upgrade once I was
notified.  As seems to be the usual story with a lot of companies, I
did not get an upgrade notice, even though I saw on the net that
they were offering this upgrade.

I tried ringing them a couple of times and no one answered.
Has anyone else had any luck in upgrading or do they ignore all their
old customers?

Home made Audio Digitizers

Hello,
Is this the appropriate place to ask if any body has the schematics
for a home-brew audio digitizer.  If it is can somebody post or send me the
schematics and any relative info.
        Much appreciated
        Brian.

Check Xanth <128.155.23.64> in the /incoming/amiga/SAMPLES dir.  You
should find something of interest there.

A great newsgroup at last ! (introducing MSPL)

Hi to everyone !!

A great newsgroup is born at last !

Well, i am a programmer and i like to use my A-3000 in computer music
and any other thing related to sound and music processing.

ProMIND also works on computer music, and we’re developing a brand new
Amiga program to create sounds.
The program we’re developing is called "MSPL" and stands for "Music
Synthesis Programming Language".
MSPL is a real programming language and lets you to create any kind
of sound with any synthesis method.

MSPL is now under beta testing and it’ll be available soon.

For the persons who are interested in MSPL and want further informations,
please e-mail directly to me.

However, if the comp.sys.amiga.audio friends want to know more, i can post
an article that will explain the MSPL features.

Have a nice day !

amigamusic

I  fantasize   about  a  pd   music   player   program
that presents an interface that  permits easy inclusion and exclusion
of amiga instruments and/or samples.   It  should  allow  easy  tempo
changes and  play  music  in  the  desired  tempo  without
fluctuation  due to other processor use. It should be small, arexx
compattible  and  unobtrusive  when included in a program with
pictures and animations.   The closest thing I’ve found to this is
smus3.6a by Hodgson, but it has no interface  and  is  designed  for
software applications. It also stalls when other applications run.

In the Synthia demo, posted on a few boards there is a pd player,
but first  ya  gotta  use instruments  that  have  been  processed
by Synthia. Of course there is Amigavision, Director, DeluxVideo etc
but these require so much in the way of players and auxilliary files; this
makes em real nice for industrial presentations, but for setting up an
amigados or arrexx script file which will play some music and show some
pics(like with superview), they are ponderous. Too big for a one or two
disk slide show. Even with these commercial products if the music hasn’t
been  set  up  just  so, you  get  the  feared   "cant find inst"
requester. You cant fix the music in these programs cause theres no
interface to do so, so its back to DMCS etc. You can maneuver the graphics
all over the place, but the music has to be redone- very sad.

Is there something like this around? It would seem with  a
multimedia-machine like the amiga with all its anim-players and picture
viewers that one  easy to use smus player should be available. Does anyone
know of one? If there is a problem with the smus format itself maybe some
changes in that are in order.

Building an Audio Digitizer

Has anyone tried to build the audio digitizer from the plans that were
in Amazing Computing about a year ago.  I’ve finally decided to undertake the
project myself, but I couldn’t find some of the parts listed in the chip
dealer’s catalog that I checked.
If anyone’s built it, how does it work, and where did you get the parts?
Amazing used to have great, cheap build-it-yourself projects (I’m hoping to
have a stereo audio digitizer for less than $50)
